He is also an experienced entrepreneur having founded two tech companies which commercialized products through licensing deals with Apple Computer, Miva and Casady & Green.

David received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Michigan. As a scientist, David specialized in mass spectrometry and DMPK/ADME. He has contributed to nearly every stage of R&D from target discovery up to post-launch product safety.

At CV Therapeutics, David moved from the lab into the business development group where he was responsible for all in-licensing and out-licensing of early stage cardiovascular drugs and for the outsourcing of research activities to international and domestic discovery CROs.

David is responsible for sales and marketing for Optivia which sells in vitro transporter assay services and products to the pharmaceutical industry. Optivia’s proprietary technology enables any customer to now follow the proven strategy of drug companies like Metabasis Therapeutics and XenoPort which use transporters as the key to discovering safer, more efficacious drugs that have a better chance for clinical and commercial success.
